If your child is anything like mine then they will love a snack! I'm guilty of buying snacks pre prepared but recently I've been trying to bake/make something once a week. Below are a few ideas for some healthy but tasty snacks your toddler (and maybe you) will enjoy.

Porridge fingers

These are so easy to make and you can add whatever you want. Dried fruit, seeds, nuts. All you need are porridge oats and something to bind them. I use a pouch of fruit puree and some milk. Mix all your ingredients together, squash them into a tub and microwave for 4/5 minuets.

Banana and sultana muffins

These taste so nice! You can find endless recipes online but i like to substitute any sugar for honey so they are slightly better for us. (No honey before a year). They're also quite quick and easy to make and easy to freeze should you want to.

Cherry muffins

Again another muffin recipe that tastes lovely. I actually made these without any added sugar by mistake but they still tasted nice. I did add some ground almonds to mine and you could add anything you want in. I used thawed frozen cherries and they worked really well.

Cheese and oat cakes

A nice savoury option and good way to get some dairy into your toddlers diet. Reuben really likes cheese, the oat cakes are hit and miss as he's not a huge carb lover (no idea why). Oats are good for immunity though so a nice alternative to bread or crackers.

Apple slices and peanut butter

As simple as it sounds. This is a great snack though as it packs in protein and healthy fats which are essential to your toddlers diet.

Vegetables and hummus

Another simple but healthy option. You can easily make your own hummus or buy some as long as the salt/sugar levels aren't to high. Vegetable wise you can use cucumber, pepper, celery and carrot. (your toddler may struggle with raw carrot if they don't have many teeth).

Savoury Muffins

Of course you can also make savoury muffins and the possibilities are endless. I personally like a combination of cheese, red onion and spinach. It's a great way to get some extra iron in to your little one.

Id love to hear what some of your favourite healthy snacks are as i'm always looking for new ideas!
