The meaning of Christmas

In this day and age we are so lucky to have advanced technology and multiple ways to connect, reach and stay in touch with people but we also spend a lot of our time on our phones, tablets and laptops. Myself included. It's so easy to get immersed and wrapped up in the world of social media but every now and again you need to take a step back.

Christmas is a time for family and close friends, for sitting around and sharing jokes and stories (and a drink or two). It's a time to live in the moment and truly appreciate everything you have and what you've achieved (or haven't) in the past year. It's a time to think about loved ones who sadly may not be with us anymore and enjoy the wonderful memories we have of them. It's OK to shed a tear, smile, laugh and get a little merry.

We all lead such busy lives. Family and friend's may live far away. How often can you say that you are all together throughout the year? Not very often for my family unfortunately.

Having small children makes Christmas even more special. They create the true magic of Christmas. Seeing the glint in their eyes and excitement spread across their face. Christmas isn't about giving your children everything they want (or think they want). Its about making memories and spending time together. It's about truly living in the moment and taking it all in. For that reason I will not be spending my time on social media on Christmas day and I really hope that you wont be either. These are the days we cannot get back and I for one don't want to look back and have any regrets.

I hope you all have a wonderful and magical day and create some extra special memories with your loved ones!
