We have been using the Cybex Sirona S car seat since Reuben was around 6 months old. We decided to change him from his baby seat early as he just didn't like being so confined. he wanted to be more upright and able to look out. Current advise states that its safest to keep your child in their baby seat as long as possible (until height or weight limit is reached) but there are occasions when it's better to change early if car journeys are becoming stressful.

This is a 0+ 1 car seat so it's suitable from birth. Its also I-Size so your child has to remain rear facing by law until 15 months minimum and comes with Driving Direction Control (DDC) Which prevents forward-facing use before the child is at least 16 months old and 76 cm tall. (Reuben will be staying rear facing until he out grows the seat as its been proven the safest way to travel). If you would like anymore information on rear facing and the benefits there is a fabulous Facebook group will brilliant advise from experts here.
One of the biggest draws of this seat is the 360 swivel function, meaning getting your child in and out is super easy and can be done with one hand. This is a fixed seat (using isofix) so cannot be attached to a pram. You can move it from car to car but it's quite heavy and bulky. The seat itself feels really sturdy and really well made, it comes in lots of colour options and there are additional accessories you can buy. For example a summer cover. The shoulder pads are attached in to position so there's no confusion on where they should be (this is an important safety feature) and there are also lower strap pads (the seat has a 5 point harness). I feel happy that Reuben is safe when we travel in the car, he's super comfy and has no trouble sleeping as the seat reclines quite well.

Cybex is one of the big boys when it comes to car seats, they have a brilliant reputation as they put their car seats through additional testing. You can find these results on the ADAC website along with some other big brands. This seat was awarded very low risk of injury in a side crash. All I-Size seats incorporates new side impact testing and the use of new ‘Q’ series test dummies, which have more sensors. Non I-Size seats that aren't put through additional testing are tested at lower speed limits and have no side impact testing. This is something to bear in mind when choosing a new seat.
I love this seat and would recommend it to anyone. We paid £300 for the seat when it first came out but it should last him until he's roughly 4 years old (18kg and 105cm). For me you can't put a price on safety and when it comes to car seats you get what you pay for. It's my belief that you should buy the best seat you can personally afford in your budget.
