When you become a mum for the first time the amount of "stuff" you need to have with you when out and about is quite an eye opener. It can save so much time having your changing bag pre packed at all times and handy just to grab on the way out. Below our my changing bag essentials that i always have with me.

A large roomy bag with lots of compartments

When choosing your changing bag you need to think practically, it needs to hold all your things and be easy to navigate one handed. Compartments are super handy for this. I picked up my changing bag in TK Maxx for £29.99 and its a JJ Cole freeman. It's black and white and reasonably stylish whilst being super practical.

Nappies/wipes/cream

Bit of an obvious one but make sure your bag is packed with several nappies, a full packet of wipes and some barrier cream for those on the go changes. Also make sure you have some nappy sacks with you. i just use Tesco value ones. (why pay more for something you're throwing away).

A change of clothes

I have an outfit that just lives in the changing bag. Vest, socks, bottoms and top. You never know when you might need it. (think poop explosions and milky sick)

Medicine

I have a box of calpol sachets that lives in the changing bag. The box comes complete with a spoon as well. These are pre portioned in to 5ml sachets so perfect for if your lo is 6 months +. You never know when illness or teething will strike!

Muslin/comforter

You need a muslin for mopping up...well anything, and a comforter if you baby likes to go to sleep with one. It will make napping on the move easier.

Bib

If you've started weaning its handy to have an easy clean or some disposable bibs that live in your bag so you don't get caught short when out and about.

Seasonal bits

Have a wooly hat in winter and summer hat in warmer weather so you can keep your lo protected at all times. You may also want to keep a small tube of suncream in summer.

If your bag is pre packed with the essentials all you need to do is keep it topped up when you use bits and this can save you so much time. And Time is like gold dust when you're a busy mum!
