The fact you are reading this means everything went well with our first scan/tests and we've been able to share our news with the world. Our expected due date of March 2020 fits in perfectly to our lives and we're excited to start our next chapter as a family of 4 (plus dog).
15/07/2019
Today at approximately 12DPO I decided to take a pregnancy test as I've been pretty certain for the past few days that i'm pregnant. I was right! Yay! baby number 2 is hopefully cooking away safely inside!
I've been having symptoms for about 5 days. I've been feeling tired, having mild cramping, need to pee more and have excess wind! Exactly how I felt the week leading up to finding out I was pregnant with Reu. I'm excited and nervous for whats to come and really hope the next few months pass by quickly!
Week 5
This week I felt the morning sickness kicking in and was physically sick at around 5.5 weeks. I should have expected it really since I had pretty bad sickness with Reuben but a small piece of me was hoping it wouldn't be as bad this time. I've started having to eat something around every 2 hours just to get through and haven't been very productive/getting out as much.
Week 6
Non stop continuous nausea. I haven't had any further physical sickness but feel sick from waking until going to sleep. I'm struggling to get us out and about daily as I feel so rough. I struggle to drink water, it has to be squash or fizzy and am grazing on carbs all day to try and keep the nausea at bay. I can no longer finish a big meal and constantly feel tired.
Week 7
Week 7 was a mixed week. I had a few days when I felt a little better and a few days when I felt awful. Iv'e noticed more and more food aversions creeping in and i'm only really opting for simple, bland foods. Its seems that tiredness and nausea are closely related and if iv'e had a busy few days ill need a day on the sofa. I'm still struggling with fluids. I'm not drinking anywhere near as much as I should but i'm drinking what I can.
Week 8
This week I was hit with a sickness bug and it was horrendous. I was sick 6 times in one day, 5 of which were 3pm onward. I couldn't keep anything down and was a little worried about dehydration but decided to trust my body. Fluids are still a problem. The only drink that goes down well is coke/pepsi. I was exactly the same with Reuben too. Thankfully i'm completely off tea so this is my only caffeine source but obviously I am limiting myself to 1/2 cans max a day until I pick up a little. As they say anything is better than nothing.
Week 9
This week I had my booking appointment and it was with the same midwife I had last time which is lovely. It finally feels like something is happening and makes the pregnancy seem a little more real. We're now just waiting for our scan date through the post. This week has been hit and miss for me, I had a few good days and then was hit one day and ended up having to stay off work which I was really hoping I wouldn't need to do this time around. It's hard but we have to listen to what our bodies are telling us. I'm feeling incredibly run down, exhausted, nauseous and the headaches have started to appear. Roll on the 2nd trimester!
Week 10
It's getting harder and harder to hide my growing stomach now. A lot of it is still bloating but there's also a little baby bump there. I started showing around 14 weeks with Reuben so it was inevitable it would be even earlier this time. I'm still feeling really tired and having good days and not so good days but overall i'm better than I was with Reuben which i'm very grateful for.
Week 11
This week I have been back to feeling rough each morning and evening and it's so much worse with tiredness. My stomach continues to grow and i'm at the point where i'll be glad when we can make the pregnancy common knowledge. The only food i'm really off is tea, I just don't fancy drinking it but other that that I've been able to eat quite a varied diet for a couple of weeks.
Week 12
This week the headaches started. I had them with Reuben as well and I tend to get them on a work day when I haven't drank enough or had much rest. I also had my first pregnancy dream this week and i'm finding sleeping increasingly uncomfortable as i'm not a side sleeper. I'm hoping to get into some sort of exercise routine soon to try and help with the aches. The nausea is still lingering but it could be so much worse so i'm counting myself lucky this time around!
Week 13
18/09 we had our first scan. It was such a relief to see a healthy baby bouncing around. Quite literally. It wouldn't keep still and we struggled to get the measurements but after a trip to the loo, shake of the pelvis and some jumping up and down we just about got all we needed. Strangely we were given the exact same gestation as Reuben's scan. It all feels a little more real now and it was lovely to share the news with our siblings. We wont be sharing with other people until we have our screening results though. It feel so nice to be at the end of the first trimester and after loosing weight and then gaining some back my total change has been plus 1lb. I want to try and avoid putting on unnecessary weight as my joints just cant handle it.
