Christmas is fast approaching and the new popular tradition is to give a Christmas Eve box. I think this is a lovely idea and can be tailored to your family and preferences. Reuben was only 4.5 months old last Christmas so this will be the first year we start this tradition.
I wanted to make my own box as its more personal and also fun. It's also quite expensive to buy a personalised one ready made. I wanted a crate style opposed to a box that closes so i'm not restricted on the items I can put in.
This is a really simple project that only requires a few materials to create. below are everything i used to create my finished box.

Wooden crate - Furniture paint (you can buy sample pots) - stencils - paint.
You can give your crate a little sand down if needed, then apply your furniture paint. You will probably need to give 2 coats depending on the finish you're going for.

Once your crate is dry you can personalise it. I chose to use stencils as I don't have the nicest handwriting/paint skills. At this point you can literally do anything you want with any colour you want. once happy with your design put it to one side to dry.
All that's left to do is to fill your crate with all your Christmas Eve goody's and watch them enjoy the magic of Christmas!
